Selecting the Best Hair Loss Pill
If you're currently experiencing hair loss, then you are in the company of many. Millions of men and women around the world have this problem. There are many different reasons why you might be losing your hair. The majority of cases are genetic in nature, especially for men. However, other causes of hair loss include certain medications, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, and even excessive levels of stress. Luckily, there are a variety of treatments available for hair loss, including the hair loss pill.
Probably the most widely recognized hair loss pill out there today is Propecia. Also known as finasteride, this pill is used to treat male baldness problems. Five years of clinical study has shown that the majority of men see results with Propecia anywhere from three months to a year after starting the medication. This medicine is for men only, and can be harmful or fatal for women and children. Propecia is designed to treat baldness and thinning hair on the top areas of the head and is not to be used for thinning hairlines. If you're a man experiencing this type of hair loss, you can feel confident with Propecia because it's been approved for use by the FDA. Propecia is only available by prescription, so if you're interested in trying it, see your doctor.
There are only two FDA approved hair loss remedies on the market today, and they are Propecia and Rogaine. For women, Rogaine is probably the best bet for thinning hair. Rogaine comes in two strengths -- Regular and Extra Strength. Rogaine is not a pill, but a topically applied lotion that both men and women can use. It's available over the counter, and is reasonably priced at only $29 for a month's supply.
You might come across other hair loss pill offerings on the market, but be advised that they're not FDA approved. If you choose to go with something other than Propecia or Rogaine, check with your doctor to make sure all ingredients in the product are safe for you to use. Even if a hair loss pill claims to be all natural, it pays to be careful. Some herbs can interact with prescription drugs and cause dangerous side effects. Hair loss doesn't have to ruin your confidence. There are products in both pill and topical form that can help you -- so talk to your doctor today!
