All About Male Hair Loss
Male hair loss is the most common form of hair loss in the world today. Also known as androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness, this problem affects millions of men worldwide. If you're a man dealing with the potentially embarrassing problem of hair loss, take heart. You're not alone. Because this problem affects so many men around the world, there are many treatment options available that can help you.
If you're a man that's experiencing excessive hair loss, the first thing you should do is see your doctor. He or she will perform a physical examination to rule out underlying medical causes. You'll also need to answer questions about your family history. Male pattern baldness is usually genetic in nature, so if your father and grandfather are bald, you can probably look forward to being bald as well.
Not to say that there's anything wrong with baldness. If you look around, you'll find that it's more socially acceptable, and even desirable, to be bald. Men that have full heads of hair are shaving their heads bald to keep up with the trend! If making the best of what nature dealt you just isn't your cup of tea, then maybe it's time to explore some of the various medications and treatments out there.
Rogaine is probably the best known treatment for both male and female pattern baldness on the market today. One reason Rogaine is so popular is that it's sold over the counter and found in most every supermarket and pharmacy. Also, Rogaine is affordable. You can purchase a 30 day supply for less than $30 -- that's only around a dollar a day! If you find that Rogaine doesn't help your baldness, then talk to your doctor about some of the prescriptions available.
One popular prescription drug that may offer relief is Propecia. Unlike topically applied Rogaine, Propecia is a pill that's taken orally. Only men should use Propecia, as it can cause dangerous medical problems for women and children. There are other possible prescription drugs that your doctor may suggest to treat your male hair loss. Yet another option is that of hair replacement surgery. By working in conjunction with your medical professional, you can find the ideal treatment option for your hair loss problem.
